After a successful fall season, every effort was made in planning to provide a CAL basketball season in alignment with all R I Department of Health guidance. Due to the recent RIDOH recommendations, the CAL Board has determined that the league is unable to proceed with this sport for the winter while confidently ensuring the health and safety of all participants. It is a great disappointment for all involved as basketball has been offered by our diocese for the last 85 consecutive years. Planning is still underway for our spring volleyball and soccer programs which we are hopeful the league will be able to sponsor under CAL auspices.
ST. TIMOTHY YOUTH
and
COMPANIONS ON THE JOURNEY ADULT AWARDS
are still being offered this year.
This is the time of year when the opportunity is provided to recognize outstanding youth and adults in our parishes and Catholic High Schools. Of course this is not a 'normal' year. Therefore, in light of the current pandemic and after significant consultation the decision has been made to continue to provide the opportunity for parishes and Catholic schools to nominate youth and adults who are exemplary models of Catholic faith witnessed by service to others.
However, there will be no Diocesan Annual Youth Awards Celebration (including scouting- normally held in early March) for this program year. Any youth or adult chosen by the Review Committee as meeting the criteria will receive their award on the local level presented by the Pastor (or his designee) and accompanied by a personal letter to the recipient from Bishop Tobin.

Due to the current pandemic, in person multi-parish
Confirmation Retreats cannot be offered at this time.
However, we hope to resume our regular retreats when "protocols" allow. In the meantime we plan to offer resources
available for you through virtual means.
Opportunities to benefit adolescents and their leaders
will include presenters on various topics,
leadership training and service reflections.
Stay tuned for more info.

Even though the annual Youth Ministry and Scout Awards Celebration will not take place at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul in March of 2021, all Scouts are still encouraged to work on their religious awards. For more information on all awards please go to out Catholic Scouting page.
The National Catholic Committee on Scouting also has five series of Religious Activities to which interested youth and adults will find fun and easy ways to learn more about their faith, Catholic role models and become more aware of the faith community and cultures around the world. All of these activities may be used by groups, families, schools, or any Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturer, Girl Scout, American Heritage Girl, or Campfire USA. For more information click here.
The National Catholic Committee for Girl Scouts and Camp Fire (NCCGSCF), under the auspices of the National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry (NFCYM), has an Our Catholic Faith Patches program available for Girls Grade 1-12. More information here.
